For the uninitiated, BOB is the Big Orange Bridge across the West Arm of Kootenay Lake. It borders the north end of the park.

The beach at Lakeside Park runs from BOB, at the north end of the park, south about 1/3 to 1/4 of the length of the park. It is fairly deep, about 75 to 80 metres at its widest and is all fine to medium sand. There's no lifeguard and it was pretty cool yet when we visited so we didn't go in the water to see how quickly it gets over one's head. Though this is actually a river (It's called The West Arm Of Kootenay Lake), Kootenay River, the current is very slow as it's very wide here.

Washrooms/changerooms are available nearby, as is a food and drink concession. On a busy summer weekend, one will probably have to park at the south end of the park and either walk or ride the trolley to the turnaround at the north end of the park. Otherwise, there is a small amount of parking under BOB, near the beach.

Here's more info on what the park has to offer.
