The Goongoongup Rail Bridge was opened in September 1995 to replace a wooden bridge that was demolished in 1996. The bridge is 407m long supported by 8 piers and links East Perth with the Burswood peninsular. The bridge carries two tracks on the suburban Perth - Armadale electric train line ,the tracks are also used by the Perth - Bunbury "Australind" train
The bridge was built using the incremental launching technique
The bridge can be viewed from a dual/use path on either side of the river which are connected by a dual/use path under the south side of the bridge
