The memorial has a statue of a Spanish American War soldier holding his rifle in both hands in front of him. He is wearing a broad-brimmed hat, shirt with sleeves rolled up, and knee high boots. He is wearing an ammunition belt around his waist with a canteen, he has a small pack on his back. The statue stands on a stone pedestal. On the pedestal is mounted a plaque with the following inscription:
