This hydroelectric power plant is located in the center of Laufen at the river Birs.

It was built in 1995 at the east bank of the river next to the waterfall. The plant uses a bevel gear bulb turbine with a diameter of almost two meters to create 680 kW electric energy. The average drop height is 4 meters, the turbine can use up to 20 m3 water per second.

The site is owned by the local energy provider EBM; there is little documentation available, an information plate with some technical data on site is the primary source of information.
