In 1815, when the north concessions of Lochiel and Kenyon were opened for settlement, the Breadalbane settlers, the last large group of Scottish emigrants to Glengarry, included thirteen members from two Baptist congregations in Perthshire who organized the Breadalbane Baptist Church.
This was to become the first Baptist Church in the Ottawa Valley, and is still active to this day.
The first chapel was erected in 1835 with services conducted in both Gaelic and English. In 1864, the present stone church was built on the north side of the road, across from the original church and the old community cemetary.
The fieldstone used came from a nearby quarry.
