Two sphinxes serve as the support for this Ceres (Bacchus) Throne.
From the Louvre's website for this piece (
visit link) we learn that it is part of the Vatican Collection, was made from marble in the 18th century by F. A. Franzoni and that the sphinxes are probably of ancient origen.
