The Hernando de Soto Bridge was named for the Spaniard that explored this part of the New World and is reputed to be buried somewhere in the region. Many people refer to it as the "M" (for Memphis) Bridge and the arches are lit at night. There are many places along the Memphis Riverfront and Mud Island where great photos of the bridge can be obtained in complete safety.
