A simple but very moving memorial to those soldiers from Würzburg who lost their lives in World War II. There is a World War I memorial in the Ring Park dating from 1931. It is a paved circle with a sculpture and an arc of panels listing the names of those who died in World War I. Some years after the end of World War II, the city erected seven crosses, each bearing a year from 1939 to 1945 around the leading edge of the circle. In its simplicity it conveys the horror of the war. No plaques, no words, just those crosses with a year.
