This plow was used to dig deep into the soil and turn it over completely to incorporate organic matter on the surface. The moldboard above the plow blade increased the efficiency of the plow and allowed it to more thoroughly turn the earth and incorporate the organic matter on the surface. The multiple holes at the front of the drawbar allowed adjustment of the 'angle of attack' and the degree of bite exerted by the plow.
