Long Description:

A 20' granite Civil War monument features a life-size statue of a Union soldier standing on a 14' high multi-tiered base. Four granite cannon balls are on each corner around the statue. The monument was fabricated by the Prout Brothers created by and dedicated on September 14, 1898.

A Civil War soldier is standing while holding a rifle by the barrel vertically on his right side, right hand over left. He is wearing a moustache, cap, knee length overcoat with cape. On each face of the base is a polished granite dado containing a list of the names of those residents of Uxbridge who served during the Civil War. The lower part of the base is decorated with reliefs of: an anchor, crossed swords and a wreath; crossed rifles, and crossed cannon ram rods and a wagon wheel.

On the front of the monument is the inscription:

UXBRIDGE
WHO SERVED IN THE WAR FOR THE UNION
1861-1865
