I discovered this memorial while exploring the SFSU campus. It's a lovely quiet setting, in the ivy under a sprawling tree.
The text of the plaque reads:
Civil Rights Memorial
1954-1968
We remember those who, in the sacrifice of their lives,
brought new awareness of the struggle to a nation and the world.
We remember them; we rededicate ourselves to the principles for which they died.
