This column is in the center of a traffic circle in one of San Salvador's tourist zone. It indicates that the area is known as the "Plaza Italia". The base of the column also has a plaque that reads:
"ESTA PLAZA DEDICADA A ITALIA EN 1964
HA SIDA REESTRUCTURADA
EN 1999 POR LA
ALCALDIA CAPITALINA
Y LA EMBAJADA DE ITALIA
ALCALDE EMBAJADOR

which translates to:
"This Plaza, dedicated to Italy in 1964
has been restructured
