When the Main River flooded Würzburg in July 1342, it was the highest level ever to be reached by the river. It was a part of what was known as the St. Mary Magdalene's Flood, the largest recorded flood in central Europe. It was so large and powerful that is washed away Würzburg's stone bridge.
