The La Plata Oil company was the first service station in La Plata. Owen G. Bullock was one of the original managers of the company and took over as the sole own in 1935. The station operated throughout the 1950s and closed between 1960 and 1975, a firm date is not found. The building is currently vacant. The station and its adjacent garage are contributing buildings in the La Plata Square Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
