The old 19th century vigilant fire bell rests out front and to the right of the new firehouse after the original firehouse was destroyed in 1972, a reminder and legacy of the history of this fire company.

The fire bell is on display on the lawn to the right of the firehouse. The bell is rather large, on metal mounts (of which I am not sure are original) which rest upon railroad ties fastened to a concrete base which secures the whole thing on a concrete pad. The bell was cast by Joshua Regester & Sons. On the front of the bell, under the founders name is the name of the original fire company, VIGILANT. The clapper is long gone and there is no yoke. There is also no crown which makes me wonder how it was originally mounted in the fire tower.
