Nimbus beers are highly decorated, winning awards from judges at the World Beer Cup, the U.S. Beer Tasting Championships (oh the training!) and the Oregon Brew Festival, the sudsy equivalent of craft beer’s Olympic trials. Without a stop at Nimbus, a brewery tour of southern Arizona is incomplete.
The brewery features six beers on tap, plus one ever-changing seasonal selection (a free 10-minute tour is available if you call in advance). The brewery sits in a shotgun-style warehouse space with soaring ceilings, cement floors, pool tables and a patio on the old loading dock, which offers stunning late-afternoon views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. It’s a beer connoisseur’s delight, but it’s hard to find, so the less adventurous who hate the sound of “recalculating” should head north to this new bistro.
