Built in 1894, this building once housed the city council chambers and the police court. In 1898, it became the Fire Hall. At one time it was also a bonded customs warehouse for a while. How long is not known. It now houses the Victorian Hospital Auxiliary´s Thrift Shop.

This building is one of two remaining buildings in Kaslo built of bricks from the local Millington Brothers Brick and Tile Yard in upper Kaslo. The other is the "1896 Building", which originally housed a confectionery and bakery.
