The embassy is on a beautiful building with one of the best views of the city. It was built in 1929 for Dr. Josef Ruzicka and his wife Anna, designed by the architect Tomas Sasek. The original died in the German concentration camp of Mauthausen, in 1942.
It was after the Second World War that Sweden rented part of the beautiful villa to the widow, Anna Ruzicka, and then, after the confiscation from the new Communist regime (1948) kept renting it, now to the State.
In 1989, with the fall of the Communist regime, the property was returned to the family Ruzicka. The daughter of the original owner donated her half to Sweden, which now owns the facilities.
