With the gorgeous backdrop of the Silvan Dam and the verdant forested areas of the Yarra Valley, the R.J Hamer Arboretum provides a breathtaking setting for its visitors to indulge in.
The garden is known for its exotic plant varieties and stretches over 120 hectares. Come to this tranquil setting whilst holidaying in Victoria and explore the lush parkland boasting over 150 varieties of native and exotic flora species.
The park setting represents a typical mini-forest with the rolling hills as a backdrop. Whether you are hiking, sightseeing or picnicking, you will have a great time at the amazing R.J Hamer Arboretum.
The park is actually a part of the Woori Yallock State forest of the Dandenongs. After a succession of fires during 1948 to 1955, a major part of the parkland was destroyed. In the past, the park was also a chief supplier of softwood and timber supplies in Victoria. Today, the RJ Hamer Arboretum is known for its exquisite beauty and tranquil setting.
A number of visitors come here during spring to enjoy the views of the blossoming plants and to walk the scenic wildflower trails. The park is also known for its rich autumn colours during the fall foliage time. Whether it is summer, autumn, winter or spring, the parkland is a perfect setting for relaxing, sightseeing and picnicking.
