This Renaissance Revival brick library was built in 1920 after the tragic 1918 fire which consumed the old library and much of the town. The library was named after George Shaw who was a well-known and respected lumberman in the area. In 1987 a new library was built and this building was deeded to the Carlton County Historical Society for use as a museum. There is an historical sign outside the building that includes photos of the old library.
