This dome serves as an aviary at the Rockhampton Public Zoo. The walls are mesh, allowing the internal atmosphere to be the same as outside. It is quite a massive building. Entrance is by one of two ramps and a boardwalk to walk in amongst the birds, but standing about two meters off the ground.
The plaque at the entrance reads:
