The public library of Zofingen is one of the oldest and largest that can be found in Swiss rural towns. It was already founded in 1693. The location changed several times over the centuries, since 1974 it is in the former latin school, a listed historic building from 1602. In 2007 it was renovated and modernized.
Today the library has over 120,000 titles, there is a department with 27,000 historic volumes from the 15th to the 19th century that can also be accessed on-site under certain conditions.
