This granite monument replaces a monument set in 1774 which marked this spot following the settlement of a 100-year boundary dispute between the then colonies of New Jersey & New York. There is also a 'witness monument' located 27.5 feet to the north which was set in 1882.
By land, this spot can only be reached through New York - by passing through the Laurel Grove cemetery in Port Jervis.
