"São Bento da Porta Aberta é um santuário cristão português, localizado na freguesia de Rio Caldo, em Terras de Bouro. Teve a sua origem em 1640, com a construção de uma pequena ermida. A designação de São Bento da Porta Aberta deve-se ao facto de a ermida ter sempre as suas portas abertas, servindo de abrigo aos viajantes.
O actual Santuário é recente. Iniciou-se a sua reconstrução em 1880 e concluiu-se em 1895."

"O culto a S. Bento, em Rio Caldo, deve a sua origem à influência dos monges de Santa Maria de Bouro. Em 1640, é construída a primitiva ermida, numa pequena elevação.Segundo a tradição, esta possuía um alpendre, como a maioria das capelas do alto dos montes, e tinha sempre as portas abertas, servindo de abrigo a quem passava... daí lhe terá advindo a designação de S. Bento da Porta Aberta. O actual Santuário é recente. Iniciou-se a sua reconstrução em 1880 e concluiu-se em 1895. São dignos de realce os painéis de azulejos da capela-mor, que retratam a vida de S. Bento, assim como o retábulo de talha coberto a ouro."
