The remains of an extensive Roman villa were brought to light in 1921 in Desenzano. A small museum exhibiting objects found during the excavations is located at the villa’s entrance.

The complex, according to experts, had been built between the third and fifth centuries BC. The structure is well preserved because it had been covered by debris from landslides coming from the hill behind it.
Among the objects displayed are remains of very interesting statues and portraits, as well as a press for grapes or olives. One can see an hypocaust, an underground heating system that was a part of a series of rooms with brick pillars (suspensurae) on which the floor rested.
