This attractive mill has been here since 1843 and worked as a mill for 126 years. Capt. Elbridge Gerry Potter arrived in Bellevue in 1843 with the desire to mill wheat. The mill was built from local limestone and walnut and oak lumber, much of it locally cut.
The mill began operating in 1845 milling wheat and selling flour to customers as far away as New York and New Orleans. The mill was sold several times over the years and operated until 1969. The building was purchased in the 1980’s for use as a restaurant, and bed and breakfast. And is now currently for sale.
Current Status: Still In Use
