The memorial plaque is located in the Zuckerberg Island Heritage Park. From 7th Avenue turn on 9th Street, park at end of street. On foot, cross suspension bridge, the memorial is just to your right.

The plaque is placed at the base of a beautiful red maple tree planted August 6, 1985. This tree was planted in remembrance of the thousands that died as a result of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

"American airmen dropped Little Boy on the city of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, followed by Fat Man over Nagasaki on 9 August.

Within the first two to four months of the bombings, the acute effects killed 90,000–166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000–80,000 in Nagasaki..."
