The
G.Willikers Toy Emporium is home to this LEGO bear sculpture created by nationally renowned LEGO artist
Nathan Sawaya, known to many as the 'Brick Artist'. He has his own professional website, BrickArtist.com (
here). He has created some wonderful artistic pieces from LEGO over the years and he created this yellow bear for the California State Fair in 2007. The state animal of California is the grizzly bear, also known as the 'golden bear' because of its sometimes-golden coat found on certain species. There is a small placard at the base of the sculpture that mentions this bear required 40,000 LEGO pieces and took 80 hours to create. There is a web link to this bear sculpture on Sawaya's website
here and his description of his piece is simply one word, 'Unbearable'. This bear sculpture is monumented on a movable base that the toy emporium moves outside during business hours as a tourist draw to its store offerings.
