Founded approximately 1898, this wooden church is still in use by the Anglican congregation. The building sports a small bell tower with a single bell atop the steeply pitched roof over the entrance. The building is shingle-clad above with ship-lap siding below. This may have been the second church built in New Denver, which, by 1892, was a service centre for mining activity in the Sandon area
Church fonds for St. Stephen's in the Anglican Diocese of Kootenay Archives date to 1898, with that year being the first year in which a parish register was kept. Records for baptisms and marriages in the church also begin in that year, indicating that to be the year of construction.
