Cottonwood Falls Park is a secluded little park on Cottonwood Creek, off the end of Railway Street, which runs up from near the old Railroad Station. At the upper end of the park is Cottonwood Creek Falls, which in the spring is a pretty impressive waterfall.

In the park is a Japanese Garden, created as a dedication to the sister city arrangement created between the cities of Nelson, BC and Shuzenji, Japan. In the garden are this polished granite monument and an Isidooroo (Japanese Stone Lantern), the two being gifts from Shuzenji to Nelson on the occasion of Nelson's Centennial and the 10th anniversary of the Sister City relationship. The gifts were formally presented to the city of Nelson on August 1st, 1997.

Coordinates are in the parking lot - the roar (spring) or tinkle (fall) of the falls will lead you to the park from there.

Cottonwood Falls Park is located on Cottonwood Creek at the spot where the falls are created as the creek crosses under Highways 3A and 6. The unique setting of the park creates the atmosphere for a perfect relaxation getaway. Cottonwood Falls rumble in the background, throwing off spray and creating a misty atmosphere. It's easy to see why this park is the choice of many for midday lunch or an afternoon break.

Take a minute or two to walk the path leading up to the falls and see for yourself the power of Cottonwood Creek.

The Izushi Friendship Society, the Eco-Society and Earth Matters are the stewards of this beautiful hidden treasure.
