About the place: This is the post office in downtown Mountain View. It's located on Hope Street, a block from Castro Street.

About the person: Kenneth Michael Ballard was a First Lieutenant in the Army who was killed in Najaf, Iraq in May 2004. Ballard was with the Army’s 2nd Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division, from Friedburg, Germany. The bill to rename the post office was written by Palo Alto representative Anna Eshoo.
