This library is in the old Golden School building. When the rural schools were closed, this nice building was reopened as a community center, and then as a library. The word "center" here is misleading, since this is no longer the center of the town of Golden. This 1909 plat shows how the roads to and around Golden are very different from the map of today, in which MO-86 was put through south of the old town, carrying the businesses and homes with it. The main road in that plat (inverted V) no longer exists.

According to this 2006 newspaper article an annual fiddle contest is held at this community center.
