Depicted Baroque Marian Column decorates recently reconstructed Lower Square (Dolní námestí) in Opava historic centre.

The original column, designed in the style of a Marian column in the square "Am Hof" in Vienna, was erected here in 1675 by Jirí Štepán, Count of Vrbno. The column was reconstructed several times, the principal reshaping comes from 1869.
