Hand with watch (1975), nickel silver on a base with brick mosaic, on a base from fair faced concrete - D-10555 Berlin-Hansaviertel, Altonaer Straße 25, intersection with Lessingstraße, in front of Menzel-Highschool - 2nd version of this image. Originally the dial of the wrist watch was painted in white with a black Frame.

In 1975, the 4,30m tall sculpture "Hand mit Uhr", made by Joachim Schmettau, was dedicated to the
Menzel-Oberschule, Altonaer Str., corner Lessingstr.
The sculpture was an emblem for the grammar school for a long time. Eventually the clock broke and so the sculpture wend unprepossessing.
But in 2009 the sculpture has been removed and taken to a foundry in Brandenburg.
After collecting 5000,00€ from the parents of the students, the clock was refurbished and ready to go back.
On January, the 24th 2012 the sculptury came back on his originally place.
