Jenny Garston and David Rayner bicker about everything, in particular horses. Their children are married to each other and are expecting their first child. Additionly their horses are both in foal. Unfortunately one horse looses a foal and the other horse has a foal, but dies in the process. Siegfried manages to get the remaining horse to accept the orphaned foal. The birth of their grand child and their joint horse ownership of horse and foal at last seems to stop the bickering.
Having dealt with the horse issue James and Siegfried meet and agree to go for a drink. They are out of hours, but manage a pint at the Black Horse. Unfortunately PC Gould raids the pub. James and Siegfried dive down into the cellar and emerge pretending to have been looking for rats.
