The Liberty Ship Memorial honors the people who built the World War II Liberty ships at the New England Shipbuilding Corporation in South Portland, Maine.
The centerpiece of the Memorial is a thirty-five foot tall sculptural replica of the Liberty ship’s bow section. Exterior exhibit panels include donor recognition, a list of the 266 ships constructed on the site, and a series of six interpretive panels. The project was completed in collaboration with Richard Renner Architects.
