Kaslo, with a population of just 1,000, is actually the largest community on the main body of Kootenay Lake.
The SS Moyie, the oldest intact sternwheeler in the world, sits proudly on Kaslo's waterfront. Kaslo is just minutes from Ainsworth Hot Springs, beautiful mountain parks and trails.
While in Kaslo, be sure and visit The Japanese Canadian Museum, an archival displays that portrays the life of the Japanese internees who lived in the building in the 1940's. This museum is located in the historic Langham House in downtown Kaslo. Langham House also has a resident ghost: a young Japanese internee who fell down the main stairway to her death. She is still seen playing ball on the upper floor before her fatal fall.
