Podhradí was first mentioned in 1288. Until this year, Podhradí was property of Neuberg. After Albrech von Neuberg death, emperor Rudolph I of Bohemia handed Podhradí to lords of Plauen, as a fief.
After big fire in 1610, a castle Neuberg was seriously damaged. Family of Zedwitz fall apart, and individual stems moving to new chateaus in Aš, Kopaniny, Doubrava, Smrcina and two chateas in Podhradí. From this moment, Podhradí wasn't centre of Aš-region anymore.
In 1902, a Upper Chateau was destroyed in next big fire. Destroyed was also a local brewery. Under Chateau was destroyed few years later.
