The origin of the flag was the coat of arms of the noble family of Wider, who administered the authority of Pfeffingen for the Earls of Thierstein in the 14th and 15th century. It became the official flag of the municipality of Pfeffingen in the 1930s.
I found the flag above the main entrance to the town hall in the center of Pfeffingen.
