Little Missouri
In the mid 1960s the surrounding wooded swampland was cleared and drained. Before adequate roads, phone and mail service were established, interpid farmers cultivated and settled the land, making it productive. So many of the farmers came from Southeast Missouri that the area became known as "Little Missouri".
