The First Congregational Parish bell has an interesting history and inscription. The back of the bell is inscribed:

MENEELY BELL CO.,
TROY, N.Y.
1909

The inscription on the front tells its history and dedication: It is inscribed:

INSCRIPTION ON THE PAUL REVERE BELL
DESTROYED BY FIRE, SEPT. 21, 1903.
"THE LIVING TO THE CHURCH I CALL,
AND TO THE GRAVE I SUMMON ALL."

THIS BELL IS THE GIFT OF
RUTH WETHERELL ROGERS
TO THE
FIRST CONGREGATIONAL PARISH OF PETERSHAM
IN MEMORY OF HER FATHER,
CAPTAIN JOHM G. MUDGE.
IT CONTAINS A PART OF THE METAL OF THE OLD BELL.
