This 1 km (.6 mile) boardwalk runs from the Dawson Trail Visitor Center to the beach on French Lake. This barrier-free boardwalk trail was constructed in memory of Sheila Hainey so that everyone, despite their disabilities, can enjoy the natural world. A tribute to her efforts is posted at the trailhead and reads:

“Sheila Hainey, a devoted employee of Quetico Park, devoted her life to helping others reach their greatest potential. Through her resolve and encouragement, her son overcame a physical disability to become a world class Olympic swimmer. It is in memory of this feisty Scottish woman, with a passion for Quetico Park, that this barrier-free access trail is dedicated.”

The trail meanders along the wooded edge of the river where one may see beavers and aquatic birds. Several inspirational plaques can be found along the way.
