The box appears to be popular and well used judging by the missing paint at the bottom of the mouths. The left opening is for "Stamped Mail" and the right for "Franked Mail". The box appears to be popular with bill stickers as there is evidence of adhesive on the paintwork. At some point in the near past the box has been given a good sand blast to remove generations of old paint. This has made the manufacturers name, on the base, easy to read. The left hand panel, when facing the openings in the box, has either recently been repainted or replaced as the paintwork is superior to that of the rest of the box.
