This sculpture was created by Tom Morandi and dedicated on November 23, 1996 to honor the individuals who worked in the lumber industry in Grays Harbor, which allowed the area to grow and prosper. The lumber industry was a major employer in Washington state for several decades, and helped feed thousands of families by direct employement as well as support businesses such as merchantiles and government.

The statue shows a tall tree being scaled by a lumberjack, while at the base of the tree, other men from related trades appear to be coming forth from the tree. The tree is situated on a pedestal of circular concrete which is laid upon other circles of concrete in increasing sizes, which also form steps. The statue is in Morrison Riverfront Park.

This sculpture is included in Aberdeen's "Urban Art on the Map" (brochure and walking tour) (visit link)
Sector of the workforce: Lumbermen, mill workers, rivermen
