The World War I Memorial on Woburn Common is a 15' high by 7' wide by 3' deep. A central granite stele has a bas-relief sculpture of an allegorical female figure representing Liberty. She is holding a raised torch in her right hand and an American flag in her left hand. The eagle is life-sized with its wings partially spread. Flanking the central sculpture are bas-reliefs tablets of a uniformed soldier and sailor, both shown in profile holding rifles vertically by the barrels in front. The memorial was dedicated on June 6, 1923

At the base of the central relief is the inscription:

WITH
HONOR TO THOSE WHO DIED
GRATITUDE TO THOSE WHO LIVE

THE CITY OF WOBURN DEDICATED THIS MEMORIAL
TO HER SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE WORLD WAR
