The statue is life size and made of bronze. It shows Father Adolph Kolping greeting a young man who looks like one of the journeymen he had a heart for. The two men stand on a raised pedestal, which carries the inscription: "Adolph Kolping - Der Gesellenvater" ("Adolph Kolping - Father of Apprentices")
