Located in the heart of Janssen Park, this sculpture depicts a boy and girl holding an umbrella. The sculpture dates from around 1914 and was crafted by the E. T. Barnum Wire and Iron Work of Detroit, Michigan. A boy and girl, cast in zinc, stand barefoot on a rocky pedestal with a frog and starfish. The boy holds an umbrella which was reconstructed out of sheet copper after a tornado severely damaged the piece in 1993. When the fountain is operating, water flows from the top of the umbrella around the children. The sculpture is protected by an ornate wrought iron cage and a dedication plaque shows the community pride and involvement in its restoration and preservation.
