This touching memorial plaque and flagpole, dedicated to some brave and committed fallen Marines, graces the entrance of a city park. The park's namesake, Guy Stillman, was both a veteran, as well as a man who loved trains. McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, therefore, is the perfect place to install a memorial to our brave veterans from the Korean Conflict.
The plaque reads as follows:
THIS FLAG POLE AND OUR COUNTRY'S COLORS
ARE DEDICATED TO THE MEN OF
USMCR COMPANY D 6TH ENGINEER BATTALION
WHO FELL DURING THE KOREAN CONFLICT
WHEN THE COMPANY WAS CALLED TO THE COLORS
AND TO THOSE WHO CONTRIBUTED THEIR LABOR
TO COMPLETE THIS RAILROAD PARK FOR
THE BENEFIT OF CHILDREN OF ALL AGES.
BY THE NAVAL ORDER OF THE UNITED STATES ARIZONA COMMANDERY
OCTOBER 12, 1975
