Denne buste er et monument over en af nationens store kulturpersonligheder med tilknytning til Randers. Henrik Pontoppidan var en af sin tids betydeligste danske forfattere og blev i 1917 hædret med Nobelprisen i Litteratur. Nobel komiteen gav prisen for "hans autentiske beskrivelser af dagligliv i Danmark."
Busten er skabt af Curt Frandsen og den blev afsløret på pladsen foran Helligåndshuset i Randers d. 18. august 1979. Soklen, som busten står på, er en kapitæl – toppen af en søjle – fra den middelalderlige Sct. Clemens Kirke.
This bust is a monument honouring one of the great cultural personalities of Denmark, who was also connected to the city of Randers. Henrik Pontoppidan was one of the most important Danish authors of his time, and was awarded the Literature Nobel Prize in 1917. The Nobel Committee gave the prize "for his authentic descriptions of present-day life in Denmark".
The Bust is created by Curt Frandsen and it was revealed on 18th august 1979. The base for the bust is a capital – the top part of a column from the medieval church of St. Clement.
