Headstone text (optional): The main face lists the family name, Hodges, and above it, a set of clasped hands that are below the shroud that's around the top of the monument. The main inscription is flanked on each side by flowers, and says:
Lizzie J. Hodges
Wife of
E.D. Hodges
Born May 13, 1843,
Died Apr. 15, 1887.
The second face has another inscription, below a praying angel, and it is also flanked by flowers:
We only know that thou hast gone,
and that the same relentless tide
which bore thee from us, still glides on
and we who mourn thee with it glide.
The third face shows a wreath of flowers, while below it ... I'm not quite sure what that is. It looks like a rope of flowers of some kind, again, flanked by flowers. Clarification is welcome.
The fourth face shows a Holy Bible, and below it, flanked by flowers, are praying angels in front of a chalice.
